Character (Original Character)
Name: Parasraya Purana
Age: 46
Gender: Female
Canon Point: 1944, during World War II.
World History: Parasraya's homeworld is Earth, in the first half of the twentieth century. This Earth is nearly a perfect replica of our own, as such there is really not much to be said in this section, for the most part it's the same as what's written in history books. However there are a few key differences that differentiate this version of Earth from our own. The technology levels are roughly the same as those from the real world in this era, as is the medical knowledge (it is very important for her job, as she is a psychiatrist). The main differences lie in the history of the world. The changes may seem to be mere details. But mere ripples can create tsunami and they caused events to take a radically different turn.

Following the great recession, the United States of America didn't recover as promptly as they did in real history. The recovery was slightly slower and while in the grand scheme of things it doesn't seem to matter, it delayed their involvement in World War II. The other key difference is Hitler's decision not to break the "Treaty of Non-aggression between Germany and the Union of Soviet Socialist" on 22 June 1941, as he did in the real world. Instead he broke the pact and launched "Operation Barbarossa" to invade Soviet Territory one year later, on 10 May 1942. With this delay, this allowed the Nazi to strengthen their forces and redouble their effort to attack England. Without the immediate help from their American ally, England found itself besieged and by 1944, Germany had managed to launch a direct attack on the southern half of Great-Britain, taking over coastal towns. As such, when the American forces finally joined the battle on this year, rather than attacking the occupied France, they had to bring the battle to the southern coast of Great-Britain.

They managed to defeat the Nazi forces that had occupied the south of the Country, then history followed its course nearly identically to what happened in the real world, with still some more differences. Peace didn't come till 1946 and Germany wasn't utterly defeated and ruined, instead they accepted to sign peace before the allied forces could reach Berlin.

Character History: Parasraya was born to a modest family in London. Nothing exceptional happened during her childhood, as a matter of fact it could be said it was nothing short of boring. She didn't have much success with other children and her social skills were questionable, to say the least. More than anything she enjoyed spending time home with her parents and daydreamed often. During the first World War she opened up, and was known to be a cheerful, beaming person, as well as kind. She entered college and studied medicine, where she primarily studied under Professor P. J. Yishai. The professor was known to be excellent and rarely showed herself, only her most brilliant students ever having a chance to spend time with her. Parasraya greatly admired her professor, and sought to become like her someday, even though she doubted the genius of Yishai could ever be equalled. There she became friends with another student named Gahr, who not only became her best friend but also her confidant. But before she could learn as much as she intended from professor Yishai, Parasraya lost her parents due to the conflicts that had just erupted: the first World War.

It was during this war that the true nature of the world began dawning on her. Her father died while he was on duty and her mother passed shortly after due to sorrow. More than that, a lot of the boys studying at the college were summoned to fight in the last years of the war, and only a few returned. Those who returned were wounded: some physically, and some mentally. But beyond this, what horrified her was to see the inner working of the world. Wars had happened before, she had read history books and everything repeated itself, over and over again. Beyond war, violence and suffering born from it were the real issue. And where she should have been helped, she realized those she admired contributed to this system. Professor Yishai wasn’t affected by the war and had actually hoped for it to happen; to her, violence was a part of human nature and the state of affairs in Europe had to be solved through war sooner or later. The numbers of death, the suffering people had to go through: None of this mattered to Yishai so long as it served what she called the greater good. To see someone she admired so much speak of horror in such a cold and distant tone greatly affected Parasraya.

In the following years, the horror of the war and her desillusion regarding Professor Yishai changed her greatly. It could be said that she had been relatively cheerful, carefree and even lazy during her childhood, all of this was gone by the time she truly became an adult. She pursued her studies, specializing in psychiatry, influenced by what she had seen. Gahr had gone to war too, but he had returned, and like Parasraya, the experience had changed him. Where she had seen the effects of war from afar, he had seen them from close.

But unlike her, Gahr recognized the necessity of wars, and at large of its part in human nature. In a sense he was very much like Yishai. Humans are violent creatures and he expected for more conflicts to happen, in spite of people claiming this war had been the last. He expected for wars to keep happening forever, as history proved mankind had only ever found stability through a succession of conflicts. Parasraya disagreed greatly with his view, and believed it was possible for wars to end. Maybe there was some truth in his words that this world could only strive through the same cycle it had repeated. But if the people could rise beyond this and create a new world, maybe they could establish everlasting peace. It was what she wanted to see accomplished, and as such she specialized in psychiatry. She perfectly knew she couldn't change the world, but others could. She wanted to study the minds of those who could change the world and hopefully influence as many as she could. If all humans were to contribute in a way and leave something behind, this was how she wanted to contribute.

She and Gahr shared different views and belief, but they kept working together. Unlike Yishai, Gahr was still emotionally affected and realized how horrible violence and war were. Even if they didn't agree, they were still friends and by cooperating, they could accomplish much more than they would individually. In a sense, they needed each other even if they wouldn't admit it. They had a long-term view of the world, and in spite of their disagreement, they still respected each other. Once her studies were over, Parasraya opened an office of psychiatry in London, her methods inspired by the then recent writings of Freud and Jung. For twenty years, she worked and slowly became renowned in her field, until World War II happened. Gahr had been right, another conflict had erupted.

During World War II, England became the center of resistance in Europe, and all those wishing to fight Nazi Germany and its allies came to this country. Parasraya volunteered to work with the soldiers coming from all over the world. As a psychiatrist, she could help them, even if for the most part they didn't welcome the help of someone they didn't see the use of it: back then, Psychiatry wasn't held in as high regards as it is today. Unknowingly to her patients, she conducted a mass study, gathering data and results to try and better her understanding of the human mind. Ultimately, she was fascinated by these soldiers. Most of them hated fighting, yet they did it because they thought their cause was noble. Without realizing it, they were doing exactly what Gahr and Yishai expected of people like them. And by helping the soldiers, Parasraya was also helping the vision of Gahr and Yishai, even if her long-term plans was to find an alternative.

Just as she had finished conducting her studies however, the German forces attacked England and manage to take over a few coastal towns. Parasraya moved to the frontlines so as to help soldiers, but died during a bombardment by nazi planes.

Personality:
Parasraya is a person who can be considered ambitious. Despite everything that has happened around her, she never lost sight of what she wanted to pursue. If anything, it only pushed her to do better. The more challenges life put before her, the more determined she grew. She thought to have lost everything after World War I, after she lost her parents and after Yishai revealed to be a monster, but she managed to grow even better out of that. Though Gahr and her shared different perspectives, it didn’t deter her from the greater goal. Her friendship with him wasn’t erased and her admiration for Yishai remained, as much as she disagreed with the former and disliked the later. And in spite of the intense dislike she felt for Yishai, she managed to recognize she was right: for the greater good, horrors had to happen. But unlike Yishai and Gahr, she didn’t believe the horrors had to last forever. She believed in an alternative, she believed there was a way for the world to become better.

Once she has her mind set on something, she’ll try her damned hardest to see it through to the end. It goes hand-in-hand with her ambitious behavior and in a sense, she is a paradoxical person. It’s this unwaivering nature of hers that makes it difficult for her to see perspectives of others--yet as a Psychiatrist, she is able to see exactly how people think and understand them. She can see the minds of people and read them as open books; nevertheless, her understanding of them is limited, superficial. Beyond that, she is far from being as social as she’d like to be. Aside from Gahr, her closest peer, she doesn’t connect very well with others. Due to her medical background, she sees people more as clients, or exhibits to study, than actual people. It’s not that she doesn’t want to connect with them, rather she’s too task oriented to look past her goals. She may grow to care for her clients with time and if they prove to be exceptional, but will prioitize her work. Much in spite of herself, she has grown closer to be like Yishai than she’d like to admit.

This consequently gives her headstrong tendecies and makes her difficult to work with. After she changed, she opted to remain socially distant and avoid making friendship. Once again, she became similar to Yishai. Most people have a hard time working with her, as they don’t connect well with her and therefore, dislike her for her strange behavior. Often times, she’s forced to work around uncontrolled factors, along with the data that comes with it. She’s aware others have a poor opinion of her, but she hides what she feels. This makes her irrationally emotional, and even if her emotions aren’t prominent in a social setting, they’re always there. Her own internal conflict comes across aloof at times, and makes it hard to understand her. Abled to control her emotions, people see her as a serene woman who can remain objective even with high levels of stress. But this doesn’t change what she is like on the inside: a mixture of conflicting emotions. If people knew what she was like on the inside, “crazy” would be an appropriate definition. But, this is how humans truly are, so maybe it’s just humanity that is crazy.

She is not foolish either. In a social setting she’s not familiar with or is new to, she would know better than to display the side of her people dislike so much. She has shown as much when working with her patients and can be rather soft with them when she wants to. This paradoxical nature of hers show in how she loves to study contradiction, such as peace and war. More than that, it makes it very hard to predict what her next moves will be.

When faced with a favorable factor, she gets a rush of satisfaction. After all, she dedicates a lot of time and effort into her studies, which often take months, if not years to produce results. Parasraya doesn’t always live life pen-to-paper, but it’s a huge role in it. That said, it’s unusual for her to participate in activities that aren’t formal or scheduled. She spends life by the book (of what she’s studied), so it’s rare to see her stray from it. When living life like how someone else might, such as exchanging small talk or casual conversation, she can come across awkward or even naive. A result from her barren interpersonal skills.

Third-Person Sample: Parasraya had thought a lot about the situation at hand. They were Heroes of Light- Meant to save this world. But if what this other Hero of Light had told her was true, they weren’t the first ones. There had been other Heroes of Light before them, and there would be more after them. It was like violence and conflicts in her world: everything was fated to repeat itself, with peace being nothing more than a temporary state. Yet, all of the Heroes seemed to be alright, even knowing that. They were worthy of admiration, doubtlessly. Or maybe they just didn’t really take the time to think about it.

“May I ask what your thoughts on the matter are?”

She marked a pause and looked at the Hero of Light who had greeted her and told her everything he knew about this world, everything they had learnt so far, or at least as much as he had managed to learn.

“Don’t you find this idea… Scary?”

She was curious to know his inner thoughts; if he lied, there would be a facial reaction a way or another. And even perfect lies often told a lot more about an individual than actual truths.

Mognet Sample: Greetings to all of you.

My name is Parasraya Purana; you may have spoken to me before. I would like to inform you I have opened an office of psychiatry in the Second District of Aqures Ixen. A lot of the natives have suffered because of the recent events, and even though they think of us as Heroes, we are not unbreakable.

Most people only ever think about their physical health, but the spirit is as important as the body. They are two faces of the same coin, and both should be treated with equal care. I have seen the ravages of war and despair in my homeworld, and will do anything to help if I can. If you need to talk to someone or know someone who might need help, then please contact me.
